Albuquerque, NM 7/14/09 - Renowned physicist Amit Goswami, physicist and author of more than 20 books F. David Peat, award-winning Chickasaw novelist Linda Hogan and former president of the Institute of Noetic Sciences James O'Dea will join 20 other creative philosophers, scholars and indigenous elders for SEED Graduate Institute's 11th Annual Language of Spirit conference, to be held at Embassy Suites Hotel in Albuquerque August 8-11, 2009. This remarkable and unusual gathering of Indigenous and Western ways of knowing has been the subject of two documentary films and two entire issues of ReVision journal.
This year's conference theme is "Space and Place," and features three days of dialogues among Native and Western scholars moderated by former director of Native Studies at Harvard University Leroy Little Bear. Saturday will feature presentations by Peat on the Science of Space and Time, Goswami on Spiritual Economics, and a special presentation by Jill and Gladys Milroy, aboriginal Australian women, on Rainbow Serpent Dreaming.
"The Language of Spirit conference is one of the most important conversations going on in the Western world today," says Jim Ryan, Ph.D., professor of philosophy and religion at the California Institute of Integral Studies. "They offer a new vision of science, spirit and the nature of reality. It will affect how you think and how you live."
"Over the years the SEED dialogues have established a reputation for unparalleled depth of sharing among Western and indigenous peoples. We take the time to delve deeply into issues at the crossroads of science, consciousness, Native America and language," says Glenn Aparicio Parry, president of SEED Graduate Institute.
The Language of Spirit conference is open to the public (registration required). For more information, rates, or to register, call 505-792-2900 or visit the conference web site.
